캐나다 위니펙 초등학교 5학년 성적표 Report Card

어제는 어린이딸의 5학년 첫번째 Term 마지막날이었다. 2주간의 겨울방학 Winter break 후에 다시 등교할것이다.
캐나다는 한국과 달리 한 학년에 3학기로 운영된다. 9월에 새학년 시작하여 크리스마스전까지 Term 1, 새해부터 3월말까지 Term 2, 마지막으로 6월말까지 Term 3, 그리고 다음 학년 시작까지 두 달간의 여름방학.
매 학기 마칠 때마다 Report Card를 받게되는데 한국의 성적표와 같다. 하얀색 서류봉투에 담아서 아이들을 통해 집으로 보내고 봉투에 학부모들이 확인서명하여 성적표는 빼고 봉투만 다시 학교로 보내면 된다.

Report Card는 총 6페이지이고 첫번째 페이지는 학생 기본정보, 등급에 관한 설명 등 표지,개요이다.

 

 

2-5번째 페이지는 각 과목의 등급과 선생님의 자세한 코멘트(서술평가)가 함께있다. 과목 중에 음악, 체육, 프랑스어 선생님은 따로 있기 때문에 코멘트 또한 해당 과목 선생님이 작성해주신다. 등급은 4부터 1까지 있으며 4가 가장 높다.
과목은 총 8과목이며 세부항목을 나누어 평가받는다.

6번째 페이지는 과목외에 학교생활태도에 관한 담임선생님 평가와 교장선생님의 서명이 있다. 우리집에서 가장 중요하게 생각하는 부분이다. 이것또한 4등급으로 등급은 숫자가 아니라 C(consistently), U(usually), S(sometimes), R(rarely)이다.

Report Card 받으면 일단 후다닥 등급점수부터 확인한다. 그리고 선생님 코멘트를 보면서 다음 학기에 보완해야 할 부분을 체크한다. 공부점수로 아이를 혼내거나 닥달하지는 않지만 항상 몇등급이 나올까 궁금한 건 어쩔수가 없고 기대보다 낮은 점수가 나왔을 때 아쉬운 것도 어쩔 수 없다.
그렇지만 해가 지날수록 더욱 발전해가고 있고 이번 성적은 잘 나와서 어린이딸도 나도 아이아빠도 모두 기뻐하고 축하했다. 부족한 부분은 다음 학기에는 신경써서 잘 해보기로 짧게 이야기하고 끝! 뭐 부족하다고는 하지만 사실은 잘하고 있는 편. 아주 좋아!
